DEAR FRIENDS

For the eighth year in a row, Morgenster Estate has received a top score in the international Flos Olei guide which assesses the world’s best olive oil.

Flos Olei has, for the last four years, awarded my estate 98 points out of a possible 100 which is the highest score they have ever given any producer. This year there are only 14 producers throughout the world who received that and there are only three other producers in the world that have achieved our consistent level of quality!

In October Morgenster took part in the London Restaurant Festival. Jason de Beer our Global Sales & Marketing Manager said: “Our agents Enotria&Coe kept us busy doing tastings of Morgenster Reserve and Lourens River Valley reds in venues ranging from high end gastro-pubs to old traditional inns. Our older vintages were a hit, with many clients excited at the prospect of having access to 15 year old wines that are drinking beautifully.”

Our Flos Olei trophy awarded in the 2014 edition. That was
the first time Morgenster received 98 points and it was also
awarded their “
Made with Love” accolade.

Till next time,

Ciao!
Giulio.

FROM HENRY IN THE WINE CELLAR

During December the tasting room will showcase our flagship Morgenster label comparing Morgenster Reserve 2003, a complete wine with a classic elegance, and Morgenster Reserve 2008, an elegant new world wine, opulent and well balanced. As usual they will present Morgenster White 2014, a luscious blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Sibling label Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2007 presents a Cabernet Franc influence with sweet fruit, white chocolate and rounded supple tannins while 2011 Morgenster Lourens River Valley provides sweets whiffs of blackberry and an elegant plush entry.

January’s red Bordeaux-style tastings of both labels will contrast vintages 2001 and 2010.

Apart from quizzing growers and producers and keeping up with new best practices, Nico wanted to see the world’s newest olive oil extraction machine in action because it features large on Giulio Bertrand’s shopping list.
