It has been an extremely dry winter and traditionally we
don’t get much rain from now until after next year’s
harvest. This poses a problem for the growing season and
next year’s yield, but on the bright side there is
plenty of the wonderful 2015 vintage available. To avoid
a thirst, we suggest you stock up prior to the festive
season. A few bottles of Cap Classique in the fridge
will go a long way to satisfying visiting friends and
family over the holiday period. To simplify your gift
shopping, we also have plenty of options, such as carry
packs, bubbly gift boxes and Magnums.
For most of us there will be multiple dining
occasions over the next three months and the
suitability of our wine with food was confirmed by
The Sommelier Selection Awards where our
Bush Vine
Sauvignon Blanc 2014 received a Trophy for "best
fresh and crunchy white". Our Domaine Grier Rose
picked up a Trophy for "best foreign wine" and our Domaine Grier Chardonnay was recommended. Our
Tradition Brut was also recommended as Cap Classique
by the glass.

Awards
|
The great value that our wines represent was
confirmed by 4 gold medals in the Gold Wine
Awards for Down to Earth Red 2013, Chenin Blanc
2014, Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 and Merlot 2013.
At the Michelangelo Awards we were rewarded
with 3 gold medals for Monro Red 2009, Bush Vine
Sauvignon Blanc 2015 and Merlot 2013.
Our bubblies also performed well internationally,
where we received a silver outstanding for our Monro
Brut 2009 (soon to be released) and a silver for our
Brut Natural 2011.
We also received a Gold and best Rosé Bubbly award
for our Woolworths MCC Brut Rosé, in the "Rosé
Rocks" challenge.
At the Veritas Awards, South Africa’s most
prominent wine competition, we also performed well.
We received numerous silver and bronze awards but
our Cap Classiques were the outstanding performers.
We received Double Gold for Monro Brut 2008 and Gold
for our Tradition Brut N/V. |

Summer Bubbly Celebration
|
Monica Voysey, Mezzo-Soprano singer, was such a big
hit at our Bastille Day Celebration that we have
asked her to once again turn on her magic, at a
Summer Celebration of our Cap Classique in November.
The idea is to again combine Opera, bubbly and food.
Chef, Marc Wassung, from "Sing for your supper,"
will prepare appropriate accompaniments to our range
of Cap Classiques.
It will be a lunch time Garden Party and Monica will
sing carefully chosen pieces to accompany each
bubbly. You are welcome to join us for this
celebration and the details are as follows:

Domaine Grier
After a relatively warm early summer, conditions
cooled down in the South of France and the harvest
began on the 7th of September, which is an average
start date. At this stage we are expecting a good
harvest and we are looking forward to discover what
our new block of merlot can deliver.

Game Drives

As summer approaches the weather is more
accommodating for regular game drives and details
are as follows:
• Mondays - Fridays we conduct drives @ 09h00 and
14h00
• Saturdays we conduct drives @ 09h00 and 13h00
In addition we are offering special Game Drives as
follows:
Wednesday Game Drive evenings which include a
wine tasting and light dinner for R300 per person.
These drives start at 17h30 and are planned for:
• 27 January 2016
• 24 February 2016
Saturday afternoon Game Drives which include
a tasting and a cheese / charcuterie platter for
R300 per person. These drives start at 15:00 and are
planned for:
• 7 November 2015
• 21 November 2015

Awards

Some may remember that we won the Tread Gently
category in 2012 and 2014 due to all our
environmental projects.
This year we have been nominated again for the Tread
Gently Award which goes to the Wine Producer that
sets the standards for green farming practices in
