#Spring has sprung and pink wines, tourism, heritage and braai celebrations are on everyone’s lips this time of year...so why not stay on trend by adding a pop of #StellenboschBlush to your fridge, visit a wine farm (or two) and enjoy a chop over the coals. #ThinkPink #DrinkStellenbosch

Stellenbosch consistently performs well and September was no different

The South Africa Special Report by respected UK Master of Wine Tim Atkin (www.timatkin.com) was released a few days ago. In his sixth annual guide to South Africa, Atkin argues that the Cape is making the best wines in its 358-year history and that its industry is “dynamic, exciting and still evolving”.

South Africa, he says, is "a match for any other New World country in terms of quality and ahead of the field on value". This year, Atkin singled out Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cinsaut and Méthode Cap Classique wines for special praise.

Congratulations to Mark Le Roux of Waterford Estate, named Young Winemaker of the year; Neil Ellis named Winemaking Legend; Overall Red Wine of the Year: Beeslaar Pinotage 2015; Best Value Red of the Year: Onderkloof Cabernet Franc 2014, and Best Value Sparkling Wine of the Year: Villiera Tradition Brut NV – all flying the flag high for Stellenbosch.

Set in a cherished 18th century historical building in the vibrant, cultural heart of Stellies, the new Simon Wine Bar features an impressive, strictly Stellenbosch wine list - truly in a league of its own. They also serve delicious tapas and snack platters to share, not to mention the fresh oysters cultivated the traditional way and flutes of MCC. Simon Wine Bar and De Warenmarkt is found at cnr of Ryneveld and Plein streets, Stellenbosch.

Swirl is a sensory adventure which awaits you at the Stellenbosch Vineyard. Here they share their story of courage, sophistication and passion through their wine and food experiences.

The menu, specifically designed by chef Livinia Plaaitjes and winemaking duo Abraham De Villiers and Bernard Claassen, offers a variety of dining options. Choose between one of the set pairings and learn about the marriage of wine with food, or create your own experience with the vast "to share" dishes, each with its own wine recommendation. For those that prefer to relax on the wooden deck with light snacks and a bottle of wine, there’s also a platter selection to choose from.
